Jesus – All or Nothing – There is no other option

Seek First

Matthew 6:33

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

This verse is the only necessary introduction. Most people in life seek after things the world can give – money, luxury, fame etc. and then in addition to all those things they add God on Sunday or somewhere in the week. Every single word in the Bible is there for a reason, and the Word clearly states that Jesus is the Bread of Life. We cannot add Him to our sustenance, He is our sustenance. If you want to have life consume the Bread of Life.

Colossians 3:17

And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

Your relationship is on the right track with God if you realize that everything you have is His and everything you do must be for Him, but most don’t realize that, because they do not know that they need saving, or from what they must be saved. It is especially true if you grew up in a Christian home, because then you think you can ooze into the Kingdom of God, instead of allowing God to radically change you and lay all your sins bare in front of your eyes, that you can see how in dire need of saving you are.

The conclusion is quite simple, we don’t deserve anything but hell.

Romans 3:23

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Romans 6:23

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Yet, most of us live our lives as if God owes us everything. We live as if we deserve prosperity and if that is not enough, we even demand and try to claim that prosperity in the name of Jesus.

Relationship

How can we be satisfied with our current relationship with God, if we know it can be better and deeper? if we are satisfied, do we really then desire God? I will explain it through a story that I heard a while back.

A lady’s fiancé is oversees fighting in a war and he organized with a courier to deliver a box of chocolates with the letter he sent, whilst at war, to his fiancée’s door. The courier arrives at her door and tells her there is a letter addressed to you that reads “I Love You”, immediately she knew from whom it came and was ecstatic. she took the box chocolates and left the letter with the courier, because she knew it was from her fiancé, and the courier told her it says “I Love You”, and that was enough.

The level of absurdity displayed by this lady is immense and anyone reading this will agree. How can she not immediately grab the letter and start reading what her fiancé wants to tell her. If you are in love and far from each other you will grab hold of anything that can bring you closer to that person. In reality she would have even forgotten about the box of chocolates.

This story begs to ask the question if she actually loves him? She does not even desire to hear his heart in the letter. This sounds completely wrong, yet most of us are at ease whilst doing the exact same thing to God. We love to take the blessings (box of chocolates) He gives us, we also love to hear the courier (preacher) tell us that God loves us, but we don’t desire to hear His heart directly and read His letter (The Word of God) and ponder upon it. We are satisfied with what the preacher tells us about the Bible instead of digging deeper and consuming it ourselves. We must have a deep desire to absorb anything and everything God puts on our way.

1 Corinthians 10:31

Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

Only with a sold out lifestyle as mentioned above will we notice the abundance in the grace of God.

John 15:7

If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

The abiding comes first – then the abundance.

We cannot be lukewarm and think that we have a chance to make it.

Revelation 3:15-16

I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

1 John 2:15-16

Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

You will be spat out, do you realize in both instance it is spoken unto Christians? It does not matter who or what you are, that what you feed yourself with is what you will start loving.

Matthew 12:35

A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.

We must live holy lives pleasing to God. Jesus must be everything for us, if He isn’t then He is nothing for you. You cannot serve Him half-heartedly. Are you willing to give up everything to get closer to God? even your earthly relationships?

2 Corinthians 6:14

Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

Galatians 5:16

This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

Colossians 3:23

And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;

Focus on getting every aspect in line with God and His will. The only way you will have the ability and strength to do that is to spend time in prayer and in absorbing the Word of God. Learn to know God’s voice and to act upon it.

The saying “too much of anything is not good” is what many people use to say you need a balance in your life. It can’t be all Jesus, you need to live as well. My reply will be “Get behind me satan, if everything is not for God it is for nothing at all.”

Everything or nothing at all!
