Triple Get: Get Up

From what must we “Get Up”?

Essentially, the first thing from which you must “get up” is your former ways and things of the past. Do not bring anything from your old life into your walk with Christ.

Romans 3:23

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Not only your previous life, but if there is sin in your life currently, you must “get up” from that position of bondage that the devil has over you and break free in the name of Jesus. this is very crucial if you want to start spreading the Gospel, as you will never truly be free and you will never truly portray the entire Gospel if you are still dabbling in the kingdom of darkness. We must leave the lusts of this world behind.

1 John 2:16-17

For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

That being said “get up” from:

  • People’s opinion about you
  • Comfort zone
  • Ego
  • Bad habits
  • Bad Friends
  • How you were raised
  • Politics etc.

How must we “Get Up”?

Try – you will fail!

Try harder – you will fail!

Try even harder – YOU WILL FAIL!

This will be a fitting definition of unending, in our own power we can try again and again, but we will not succeed in getting up from our former lives and the things of the world. The only possibility is through Jesus. You are not strong enough in your own capacity to fight off the temptations and difficulties that life throws at you (or should I say the devil). Only through the power of Jesus will you be able to “get up” and most importantly, to keep standing.

Romans 6:23

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Romans 5:17

For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.

Romans 6:13-14

Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.

Why do we “Get Up”?

Ephesians 2:8-10

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

We are called unto salvation through Christ Jesus. He has given us freedom from sin, eternal life and peace that surpasses all understanding. We “get up” to testify of His power, portray His grace and show His love. We are called to preach the Gospel!

Matthew 28:19-20

Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
