Let Falsehood Succumb and Truth Conquer, God’s Kingdom will Reign

Pilate inquired of Jesus what He did wrong, He is a Jew after all.  His own nation and high priests accused Him and delivered Him to be crucified.  What is going on?

Jesus answered him in such a manner that no human interpretation would suffice

John 18:36

“My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.”

The thought at that point dominating Pilate’s mind was if Jesus was a King.  Jesus answered him in v. 37, “Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.”

When we abide in Jesus, we will recognize His voice and do His will.  We will tirelessly pursue holiness, whilst striving to improve our relationship with Jesus.  The actions of Jesus will be our life’s compass, we will be able to understand and start grasping “the Truth” and get to know our Saviour on a deeper level. Prayer will start dominating our lives. Our belief in the Scriptures will be unwavering. moreover we will choose the Truth and not knowledge of the world.

If we are in Jesus then we are not of this world.  A different Kingdom awaits us, which Jesus is preparing for us.  In Philippians 3:20 we realize that we are not citizens of this earth but we are citizens of heaven.

Hebrews 11:13-16

“These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.

For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country.

And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned.

But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city.”

Again in I Peter 2:11 we are called strangers and pilgrims.  We need to keep ourselves pure from everything the world wants to offer us, because it pollutes our souls and keeps us from having a godly relationship with our Father in Heaven. Its main purpose is to divert our attentions from God.

Pilate was puzzled and upset, he couldn’t understand fearlessness in the midst of the overwhelming peace that Jesus had.  Jesus explained to him that those that hold on to Truth, listen to Him, but Pilate couldn’t understand because he had a carnal mind (worldly).  He asks in John 18:38 “WHAT IS TRUTH”?

WHAT IS TRUTH!

Pilate asked Jesus, what is truth?  Please remember:

THE BIBLE WILL EXPLAIN THE BIBLE, NO INTERPRETATION OF MAN, THEN IT IS AN INFERENCE, NOT THE WORD.

Jesus prayed for His disciples in John 17:16-17 just before He was taken into custody, He reminded them again that they are not of this world, just like He is not of this world.  His words:  “Sanctify them through thy truth:  thy word is truth”.  As you can see in this scripture, truth came through Jesus Christ.

Who is the Word?

John 1:14

“And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.”

We can only get to God through Jesus’s saving grace.
John 14:6

Jesus saith unto Thomas: “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”

  • THE WAY – The narrow way, the direction we need to take.  Jesus is called THE WAY
  • THE TRUTH – Jesus is the answer to life (eternal life), we saw in earlier scriptures that Jesus is called the Word.  John 1:1-2 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God.” Eternal life is through Jesus who is the Word, which is the only Truth.  I Peter 1:23,25 ” Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever… But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.”
  • THE LIFE – We as children of the Powerful and Almighty God have eternal           life – A future in the new heaven and earth.  John 1:14 “In him was life; and the life was the light of men.”

Romans 6:23

“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

This is only applicable if you are in Jesus.  We invite Jesus into our lives and do everything the Word tells us to do, then we are sealed with the Holy Spirit who will guide us until Jesus comes back again.

Ephesians 1:13

“In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,”

The conclusion: When we heard the Truth, believe the Word of God, get baptized, then we are sealed with the Holy Spirit.  Then we wait for Jesus’s return in excitement.

WHAT DO WE DO WITH TRUTH?

  1. Handle the Word of God / Truth with care

 II Timothy 2:15

“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”  This means we abide by the Word, we stand unashamed before God, knowing that we proclaimed only the Truth, not manmade doctrines.

II Timothy 3:16-17

“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:  That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.”

Through the Word – we know how to live a holy life, we can know what the Word says, we can help others and show them the right way and we can preach and teach the Word (Jesus).  Jesus gave us a whole manual how to live our lives.

In II Timothy 4:4 we are warned that people will turn their back on the Truth and flock after fables (manmade, they will rather believe science and what intelligent people (intelligent according to them and the world) say.

2.       We must live according to the Word, why?

 John 8:31-32

“Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;  And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

How can we stand against the viles of the devil if we are not girdled with the Truth in Eph. 6:14.  We fight against the enemy with the Word (Scripture), Jesus was our perfect example.  When satan took Jesus to the mountain and tried to seduce Him, Jesus quoted scripture, every time.  This is an example of spiritual warfare. Read Eph. 4:21.

3.       Do not disguise and soften the Truth.

If the Word of God says it, then it is truth, it doesn’t matter what the world tells you with small talk.  Believe it, at the end we will be judged according to the Word not according to people’s opinions. The wrath will be poured out on all people who proclaimed the opposite, Romans 1:18.

It is so fulfilling when we know what the Word of God says, when we serve Jesus in Spirit and in Truth, we will have discernment of what is right and wrong (worldly teachings and false teachers).

I John 4:6

“We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.”

4.       Who will be saved when Jesus comes back?

Those who are witnesses of Jesus.

I John 5:11,12

“And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.”

Revelation 12:11

“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.”

Look at Revelation 12:17 as well.

Revelation 19:10

“… I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”

A testimony must be shared

Because it uplifts  people around you and the testimony of Jesus brings people in His kingdom and they can be sure of their hope for eternal life.  Today scientists pursue immortality, but we as Christians know, WE WILL LIVE FOREVER (we have immortality without any clever experiments)!
